Blog #5 - "Consider the Lobster"
The first page introduced the lobster event in detail. It described the people attending the event and what would d happen at the event. This is how our Project 2 should be, describing every possible thing in our community in detail. The second page started off by saying “…theres much more to know than most of us care about..” I feel like this is also how our Project 2 is going to be for others who are not interested in the subject also. Our Project 2s will go into an insane amount of detail and description. The rest of this page went on to describe the lobsters in detail; their name, origin, and what they are known for. The third page continues this detailed description, describing certain ways to eat lobster and different recipes.
After describing basically everything imaginable about a lobster, the fourth page brings up a question to debate. “Is it all right to boil a sentient creature alive just for our gustatory pleasure?” This question was hinted on the previous page, when mentioned as one of the most “obvious” ways to cook lobster was to boil it alive. The majority of the next couple of pages goes in depth of lobsters IQ levels, if they feel pain and if the pain bothers them. After exploring the question the author thought about, he connected it back to the original topic of the article: the lobster festival.
I can see how this is similar to our Project 2 because we will have to explore a community that we are joining and then go into detail and think about it enough to generate a question to do further research upon. Rereading this blog post, I noticed I used the word detail quite a few times. This really emphasizes how detailed our Project 2 will be.
